SUMMER Happenings

The Church Office hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00-2:00.  The Church office will close for the summer on June 24, 2009 and will re-open the end of August.  However, messages by phone and email will be checked on a regular basis.

July 19, 2009 "Social Action and Spirituality"                                     Leslie Evans

August 2, 2009  "On Behalf of the Common Good"                      Nancy Brigham

In the midst of ecological and economic crisis, our UU Principles call us to set right the balance between the individual and the common good.

August 16, 2009 "Poisoning the Ivy"                                              Carol Packwood

Speaker is Michael Lewis, author of "Poisoning the Ivy".  Anyone who teaches in higher education realizes that "the Academy" has significant and pervasive problems in its self-governance, effectiveness, and in according value for soaring costs. Although there is a widespread sense that something is badly wrong, few are well positioned to challenge the system. Lewis has written an honest, spirited account of what, in his view, ails the nation's universities and colleges, making them "wasteful, inefficient, and increasingly unresponsive to the needs of (their) constituencies".  Special Jazz Music, too!

September 13, 2009 Water Communion”                              Rev. Jane Thickstun

Join us for our first service of the year!  Bring a small vial of water from your summer travels as we celebrate the community of this church.

See the Calendar for more information and other church-related events.
