NEW UU Program Coming in November

KUUC will be sponsoring the NEW UU Program on Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Alliance Room. Lunch is included. Rev. Jane Thickstun, minister, and KUUC member Dottie Bauer will co-host the program, which provides newcomers with the opportunity to learn more about Unitarian Universalism in the past, present, and future. People who may not be new, but who would like to learn more are also welcome. You will get to meet other interesting people, learn something about our UU faith, our larger denomination, and our local church. Please RSVP to the Church Office (352-1719 ext. 0 or kuuc@verizon.net) by Wednesday, November 12 so we can plan for the luncheon. We look forward to seeing you there!               Dottie and Rev. Jane

Berry Bowl Volunteers Needed

The GREENS SALE is coming soon and Berry Bowls are a traditional part of the offerings that day. There will be a sign up sheet in the Parish Hall after church the next few Sundays for help in gathering berries and moss during the week ending November 14 and for making the bowls on Saturday, November 15 in the church kitchen at 8:30 am. On Saturday November 29 starting at 9:00 am in the church kitchen the bowls will be sealed and decorated with bows. Help is needed for all or part of the project and if you have never made a berry bowl, this is the time to join the fun and learn. Suitable empty bowls are needed so please check your shelves and take them to the church as soon as possible.

Books Needed

Please comb your shelves for books you no longer want and save them for the BOOK NOOK at the GREENS SALE on December 5 & 6. Clean and gently used books, CDs and tapes of all sorts are popular sellers at this busy part of the annual event.  Take donations to the church or call Darcy Doyle 355-8220 if you need assistance.

Dance of Gratitude

Join us on Saturday, November 22, in the Parish Hall from 7:00-8:30pm for an evening of Sacred Circle Dancing. When we will celebrate together our gratitude for the abundance in our lives. These gentle and joyful dances invite us into deeper connection with ourselves, one another and the Source of all life. Each dance is clearly taught and led. No dance experience is necessary because heartwork, not footwork, is our intention! All are welcome – call 357-1232 with any questions.

Community Kitchen Donations

This year, more than ever, your donations are needed for the Community Kitchen.  You can drop off the following: non-perishable food items and toiletries, warm hats and gloves, blankets, cash (checks payable to Keene Community Kitchen) and food gift cards.  There is a box in Parish Hall.  Items will be delivered to the Community Kitchen on Monday mornings.

Please Complete the KUUC Talent and Interest Survey

The Program Council has developed a short online survey in an effort to build our community through sharing our talents and skills.  The information gathered will be stored in a church database so that it is readily available when needed.  You will always be in control of where, when and how you serve your church – responding to the survey does not commit you to anything!  The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and can be accessed through a link on the bottom of the church’s home page (www.keeneuuchurch.org) or at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=e6LhVcF4YhsmsM5TCRv6yA_3d_3d

The survey will also be set up on a laptop during coffee hour for the next couple of weeks and someone will be available to assist anyone wishing to complete it. We are asking that people complete the survey by November 16th.

KUUC Community Thanksgiving Dinner

There will be a community dinner on Thanksgiving Day at 11:30am in the Parish Hall. We will be Gathering between 10:30 and 11:00am for setup and cooking. Please signup in the Parish Hall. Contribute what you are able and willing. Turkey will be the focal point. For more information contact Scott or Andrea Ansevin-Allen at aansevin@yahoo.com or 358-3701.
