Message from Director of Religious Education...

The Keene Unitarian Universalist Church offers a Sunday morning church school program for children and youth ages 3 to early teen. A Coming of Age program is offered in alternate years for students in grades 8 and 9. A youth group for young adults in grades 9 through 12 meets on alternate Sunday evenings. Adult religious education is also offered at various times through the church year.

Sunday classes use Unitarian Universalist curricula which explore our faith, our place in the world, and the values and lessons of many religious traditions. Students learn to respect one another's developing beliefs and those of other faith traditions while gaining information and support to answer the question 'What religion are you?' in their peer groups at school and in the wider world.

The Religious Education program is blessed with many talented volunteers. I invite you to become involved in the sacred work of learning and teaching at KUUC.

Karen Bellavance-Grace, Director of Religious Education

Message from Religious Education Committee...

Welcome to our lifespan religious education program which embodies our Unitarian Universalist principles and the goals of our religious education program. Both are printed in this Prospectus. Our classes, group activities, multigenerational services, and special events intentionally create and nurture an atmosphere of community. Within this setting young and old are free to develop their beliefs and share in sacred moments.

Unitarian Universalists do not have one creed or set of beliefs which we bring to our religious education program. In order to engage in a free and responsible search for truth and meaning, we use UU curricula that teaches about our own Judeo-Christian roots as well as other religions and different cultures. We hope that students of all ages will grapple with what it means to live out Unitarian Universalist values in the context of our wider world. We create an atmosphere in our classes that encourages thoughtful discussion of all ideas.

We believe that religious education is a lifelong process. Whatever your age, wherever you are on your religious journey, we welcome you.
