Year’s End Report of the Social Action Council Sept. 2006 – June, 2007

The members of the Social Action Council are Frank Fiske, Deb Konietzko, Frank Magill, Jim Smart, and Dick Segal, Chair.

The main activity of the Council this year was to begin the Green Sanctuary Process under the leadership of Suzanne Butcher and Kay Delanoy.  This activity is well underway.

In addition to several letter-writing tables concerning the Roundabout and Darfur the council gave support to the founding of a local chapter of the Unitarian Universalist Justice in the Middle East organization under the leadership of Jim Smart.

The Council planned a successful Sunday worship service focusing on the work of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and had Mark McPeak from the UUSC deliver an interesting sermon and hosted a talk back hour after the service.

The council has been in contact with several local and statewide coalition groups and has participated in various social action programs.

Respectfully submitted,

Richard L. Segal,  chair
